Beginning with the 2001 June issue, Snap is changing its title to Transworld BMX.

James Ayres, Transworld BMX's Associate Editor, February 27, 2001: For those of you who haven't heard about the change that's about to take place with Snap, you better sit down because it's a big one. Beginning with the June issue, Snap is changing its title to Transworld BMX, and it's going to be a whole new ballgame. I'm sure many of you are wondering why the change. There are two reasons. First, we're changing the name so that the title is more visible in stores. When a rider is looking for his/her favorite BMX magazine on the newsstands, Snap doesn't catch the eye as quickly as it should. We felt it was important to have BMX in the title so people would automatically know what they were seeing. Second, we're changing things based on reader feedback. More and more letters were coming in asking for more street, ramp, and freestyle coverage—so many that we couldn't ignore them. What exactly does all of this mean? First, it doesn't mean that we're in trouble. Snap was good, but we want to be better. Nobody's going out of business, getting laid off, or anything else. In fact, if you check out the Web site, we're actually looking for a few key people to help us out with the new mag. Second, it doesn't mean that we're not covering racing anymore. Racing is still a very important part of the magazine and we're going to continue covering races, as well as doing race bike inspections, tests, and interviews with various racers. Snap's Editor, Keith Mulligan and I each have deep racing roots, so if you think for a second we're trying to somehow "phase out" racing, think again. If you already have a subscription to Snap, expect to see a new magazine showing up on your doorstep soon. If you're not a subscriber, get ready to become one. It's going to be worth it.
