volume 34 no.10 - october 2011 ON THE COVER: This photo sums up Darryl Nau in a nutshell. The dude is about as rad as it gets and clearly, it shows. Wild fastplant in the North West. Photo: Jeremy Pavia. Darryl Nau, january 2012: To say that I am honored to be gracing the cover of the BMX PLUS! December 2011 Issue is a huge understatement. It was an amazingly fun experience to be able to create with the super talented artist and photographer Jeremy Pavia. The November 1987 issue of BMX Plus! was the first BMX magazine that I ever bought. I can remember reading (drooling) over issues of PLUS! in my school notebooks day dreaming of what bike I was going to save up enough money to buy. (USA themed Robinson SST). This photo was shot at 6 am in Portland Oregon at sunrise, just after leaving the bar and just before announcing Dew Tour BMX Dirt Finals. At the time I was suffering a back injury and having trouble walking let alone riding. Portland is magic and there is no way I could pass up an opportunity to ride this place! Big thank you to Jeremy and BMX PLUS! for having the vision, talent and confidence to rock this photo on the cover. Big shout out to my Portland BMX family Shad Johnson & Goods BMX Shop, Rich Hirsch, Caleb Ruecker TwinFinn, Chris Morse, Chester Blacksmith all the bike, skate & punk locals, Al Partanen, Chet Childress, the artist that painted the bowl, all of the locals that have poured blood sweat and tears into making magic at the skatepark and for being kind enough for me to have a taste.
