The Torker name was created by Johnson Engineering in Fullerton, CA in 1977 for a BMX bike frame.
TORKER MX FRAME.
BMX Action february 1977: The Torker MX is all chrome-moly, aircraft quality hell-arc welded in close-tolerance jigs, and stress-relieved after welding. Insert-joints are used at the bottom bracket and steering head. It has double top-tubes with double gussets at the steering head. Comes in bright red epoxy finish or chrome plated.
www.fatbmx.com: When did you think it was time to build a bicycle especially built for freestyle?
Bob Haro: In 1979-80. My Torker was custom built for me before that time. I just thought it time to build a bike specifically for freestyle.
fat: How hard was it to work with Torker to get what you actually wanted?
Bob: Easy.

1984 freestyle frame. 100% cro-mo frame, made in Fullerton, CA. Machined headtube and BB. Rolled dropourts for stiffness. Rear standing platforms on chainstays. Coaster brake mount on seatstay. Inproved headtube area over Pro-X (stronger). The 5 inch headtube on this frame requires special 5 inch headtube forks.
BANKRUPTCY.
In November of 1984, Torker Bike Company went bankrupt and its inventory was auctioned off to the highest bidder. So was the Torker name. Originally, the name was picked up by Seattle Bike Supply -a prominent distributor of BMX and freestyle products. SBS held onto the name for awhile but wasn't able to devote much time to promoting it.
